Growing Tips
Best Position
Plant in full sun or partial shade. ‘Hagley Hybrid’ is one of the few clematis that performs well in shadier spots, where its pale pink flowers retain their delicate tones without fading.
Soil Needs
Prefers moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Add compost or well-rotted manure when planting, and mulch in spring to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Support & Growth
Provide a small trellis, obelisk, or other climbing structure for support. Tie in shoots as they grow to encourage upward growth and good coverage.
Pruning (Group 3)
In late winter or early spring, cut all stems back to a healthy pair of buds around 20–30cm above the ground. This encourages strong new growth and plenty of blooms.
